The SMH article which Michelle has posted in News is quite long - but worth skimming through, to see what is happening here in Australia and overseas with people who have had, or are thinking of having, genetic testing for HD (or any other genetic disease) and who might want to apply for life insurance (health insurance is also discussed in the article, along with life insurance). If you're pushed for time when you access the link, HD gets a mention on Page 5 (of 6 pages) of the article under the heading of The overseas experience - bans and rules in place (with predictive genetic testing in Britain - they've had rules in place since 2001 - there is an independent govt committee which decides which genetic test results are relevant to insurance companies and need to be declared when applying for life insurance above certain levels of cover - no prizes for guessing that, so far, Huntington's Disease is the the only condition listed for life insurance). sonnie
