Hi Lyn,  That sounds like a difficult situation. I'm all for testing and having that knowledge but my siblings aren't, so I can understand a bit regarding your children's situation. I think it's great that you are researching and finding out more, so when/if they want to know, you'll be able to help...

Hello Skye,  I'm glad you found the forum, and that you've posted and got some responses which have helped.  Our children are teenagers now, and came with me to my results appointment, so they could ask any questions. They've also spoken to my neurologist, and he's told them to contact him at any ti...

Hi Alex,

We had our children before we found out my positive gene status, so haven't gone the IVF/PGD route, but I did want to say hi, and welcome :)

Daisy,  I read your post and wanted to comment, but I can't be much help as we didn't face the same decisions. We found out about my gene positive status after having our two children (who are now teenagers).  One thing I remember being told is that it's less likely for the CAG repeat number to incr...

Fiona,  I think all the confusion was because the dr really hadn't come across HD before and was just going off the information they had available.  Actually, the first thing the counsellor mentioned when they called was that my blood had been received for the test, but the results weren't yet known...

When I asked my GP about predictive testing, they printed me off a pathology form and sent me to get the blood taken. The GP said they hadn't ordered that particular test before, but looked it up on their online database, and followed the instructions.  Anyway, I asked about getting the results, and...

Hi Asy,  I went through the predictive testing because I wanted to know my status as well. I felt that finding out would reduce my concern about whether or not I was gene positive. It seemed like a long wait between the start of the process and getting the result, but I still feel it was worth doing...

Sarah, I think it's really difficult when you can't talk to your immediate family about HD. I hope you can find a safe place to discuss things, because it does affect you and ignoring it won't make your concerns disappear.

(((hugs)))

Hi Tania,

The people here are very supportive; it's a great place.

I'm sorry that you didn't get a negative result, and hope you have some family and friends there for you as you process things.
