An article appeared in SMH (Tues 8 Nov) front page: Heartbreak for parents with rare genetic condition . To read the full article on the current state of play with PGD and Medicare subsidies - follow the link below.

Interestingly, Federal Dept of Health and Ageing last month decided an embryo might not be "an Australian resident, or eligible overseas representative" (!!!) as required by Medicare legislation and has delayed rulings on subsidies until 2013 at the earliest.

HDF raises over $2 Million for research

The Hereditary Disease Foundatation recently held a Gala celebrating its 40th birthday with a tribute to its founder Milton Wexler who recently passed away. The event rased over 2 million dollars with an anonymous donar matching all donation up to a million dollars.
